Baby's first Christmas

Christmas 2007 was spent at Nana and Papa's house in Woodland Hills, CA. We has our traditional Italian dinner that consists of 7 seafood dishes. Papa always spends all day cooking and it's yummy!

Kendall's present this year...was her very own Christmas ornament. Wahoo! She personalized it herself (it only took about 7 attempts).

Racing stripes

After getting her FOUR shots, her daddy told her that she earned her racing stripes! How cute is that??? (Note the 4 bandaids on her thighs)

2 month checkup

Kendall had her checkup which unfortunately consisted of her vaccination shots. Two in each leg and one orally. Is all of that really necessary? Who knows...but I don't want my daughter to be the one that finds out. She screamed so loud and cried so hard. I felt so bad for her, I cried too!

She also had her weigh-in and just as we suspected...She's our little giant! She weighs 14 1/2 pounds and she is 2 feet tall. As you can tell by these charts below, she's at the top of her class.

A Blessed Day

This day was such a special one. She looked so absolutely beautiful. Her daddy gave her a very special blessing. She was quite as a church mouse, sleeping the whole time, until her daddy held her up. I think she got scared...her hands spung open and her eyes opened wide. She is so incredibly adorable!
We had lots of family and friends that came to share our special day with us.

A Whole New Dress

After our wedding, I thought about what to do with my wedding dress. I thought about getting it preserved, or just sticking it in my closet in hopes that one day my daughters would pull it out and play with it or they'd want to wear it on their wedding day...(highly unlikely!)

Then it came to me...I decided to recreate my wedding dress into a baby blessing gown for our daughters and a little boys outfit for our sons. I thought that this dress could be a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation. I even had enough material to make a blanket and a bonnet (not pictured).

So, next Sunday, Kendall will have the privilege of starting our little family tradition.

Home for the Holiday - Thanksgiving!!!

Good times! Most of the family members were there for the holiday except Aaron and his family. All of us under one roof, just like old times. What are the chances??? We had such a great time. Filled with memories, laughs, late nights, food and fun!

Kendall's First Roadtrip

First in the car for a LONG drive to L.A. to meet her Nana, Papa, aunts, uncles, and cousins for the first time. She did pretty well considering her circumstances. We only stop once for a feeding and I hopped into the back seat to soother her twice. Yes...bad girl...I took her out of her seat while driving. Exactly what the warning labels tell you not to do. But what are we suppose to do...pull over everytime she has a fit??? Some might say yes, but to those people I say, "When we were young, we didn't even have car seats!"

She's a squirmy worm! Poor little girl can't move, stretch, or wiggle they way she'd like to and on top of that the poor thing's back gets super sweaty. I felt so bad for her! And to think were thinking about making the drive again for Christmas. Child abuse for sure...unfit parents!!!

The Nursery

Many people have been asking me to post pictures of Kendall's room. So here they are. It was definitely a work in progress...and now it's finally done! We went with a unisex BUMBLE BEE theme (just in case there are more babies in tow). I found the bedding and then start the decor around those colors...yellow, green, and black/white gingham.

The baskets...
Hidden picture game...how many baskets can you find? I have this thing with baskets. I LOVE them!!! They are my friends. It's the best way to organize things.
Oh the rocker...

That was a rare find. I knew for sure I wanted a gingham rocking chair, so I was determined to find one. I originally found one on JCPenneys website, but didn't want to spend $700. I tried to find it elsewhere, bit I couldn't. So, I gave in. I called JCPenneys to order it and they told me it was no longer available. Dang it! SO, I started my quest again! I found the same chair at a baby specialty store in Sacramento, so I bought it. I couldn't resist.

The store called me a couple weeks later. They told me the fabric was backorder and wouldn't be available until February. WHAT??? No way! I said forget it! Took back my $700 bucks and moved on. I was still positive I wanted that chair, so where else to go but CRAIGSLIST.

For those who don't know, I am queen of internet searches. I googled "black gingham rocker, craigslist" and low and behold there it was...my chair in Azusa, CA for only $150. I called my parents and my dad drove an hour there to get it for me. Oh the love (for my dad and my chair)!
The BEES...

The up close and personal shot of the bees. This was a combined effort. I wanted to incorporate the President Hinckley's 6 B's into the nursery. I painted the borders and background of the canvases, my sister-in-law, Holly, did the vinyl signs, and my friend, Angie (the artist), painted the bees. They turned out 10 times cuter that was I imagined. Thanks guys!
The closet...

What would we ever do without the handyness of our daddy's. My dad came up to visit me and on the list of things I gave him, this was one of them. I wanted a double-decker closet. He did a fabulous job! Don't you think?
The crib...

I love sleigh cribs. They are super cute. I found this crib online at The Land of Nod (It's Crate & Barrel's kids sister store). They have some super cute stuff.

The name...

Why did we name her Kendall Raeann? Kendall because I have loved that name since I was 12 yrs old. We had a family that lived next door to us and they had a little girl named Kendall. It has stuck ever since. Luckily Shane liked the name too. Raeann...Rae is my mom's middle name and Ann is Shane's mom's middle name. Put it together and whada ya got...bippity bobbity boo!

The star...

The butt...

She loves to lay on her tummy with her butt up in the air. Isn't she just the cutest thing you've ever seen???
