Knee Surgery

Shane had his ACL repaired on July 23rd. We got him out of the house a few times. He was a trooper...It was me that was the baby. I had to take the trash all by myself...yuck!

BFF

My BFF since high school, and her family, drive through Sacramento every year and it's become a tradition now for a couple of years to meet up at McDonald's. I love seeing her and her family. She is some much fun to spend time with. I just wish we lived closer!

Studying with Daddy

Kaden is a crack up...if he see a whole to squeeze into, he weasels his way in. Shane was studying on the floor and Kaden nuzzled himself right in front. What a funny little guy!

Swim park, yogurt and Ronald

We went to the GAP water park, then afterwards went to this way cool yogurt shop. Kendall and Kaden has a blast making their own yogurt cup and picking out their own toppings. Needless to say, they were in heaven.

After all that fun, we went to Walmart. Every time we go in the store, Kendall insists on sitting on Ronald's lap. Not sure what that's all about.

Trip to Santa Cruz

On Thursday, June 16th, we headed out on a little 4 hour road trip for an over-night stay in Santa Cruz. As you can see by the 50 million pictures posted...we had a blast! It was really a perfect little get away!

The trip started out with a little stop for lunch on the go. By the time we got lunch, Kendall was fast asleep. But not this little boy...

...He was hungry!

First stop- The Boardwalk! The kids really enjoyed riding all the rides...

Next stop- Dinner on the pier! We had a beautiful table that overlooked the ocean. It was great to watch the sunset during dinner!

Kendall and Kaden did a super great job sitting and eating their dinner. For some strange reason, our kids love their butter with a little bit of bread...

Noodles!!! This little boy is in heaven!

After dinner we walked to the end of the pier...

There were 3 sea lions playing close to the pier...

And some that were sleeping under the pier...

Action shot of Kendall chasing the seagulls...

Watching the waves crash on the beach...

Kaden couldn't quite keep his eyes open as we headed back to our hotel...

Morning time...
Kaden woke up super early, so Shane got up and took him to breakfast while Kendall and I slept for a bit. Shane crashed on the bed when he came back and Kendall was still out!

The only thing in the room that was worth playing with...

Our balcony...

Helping with the luggage as we checked out of the hotel...

Because Kendall and I slept in, we missed the hotel's continental breakfast. So, we got Jamba Juice instead...

Next stop- The Seymour Discovery Center at UC Santa Cruz...
It's a smaller scale aquarium. We highly recommend it to anyone! It was SO cool!

Kaden loved the fish...

Kendall was in love with the pink starfish that she was able to hold...

...and the sand crabs...

...Kaden was a little bit more apprehensive about touching things...

Listening intently...

Kendall didn't want to touch the sea urchins, so Daddy did instead...

Touching sea lion and otter skins...

Kaden found a loose bolt and loved to take it out and put it back in repetitively. So intrigued...

Checkin' things out...

One of the most fascinating things we learning about were mermaid purses. They are little purse-like sacks that a type of shark lays and a baby shark grows inside of it. When the shark is at the correct gestational age...it swims out of the top of the pouch. Crazy, I know! Another cool thing about these pouches is that they have curly- wiry things at the end of them so that they will attach themselves to the seaweed in the ocean. Amazing!!!
Check it out... You can actually see a little baby shark inside...

Listening to the sea lion and otter noises...

Up next at the Discovery Center was a tour to see some dolphins...

So cool...

Nothing like a photo-op inside the skeleton of a huge gray whale...

Next of the day's agenda- Back to the boardwalk for more rides, lunch on the beach and a swim in the ocean.

Entertaining Kaden with some kettle corn, while Kendall went on the log ride with her daddy...

That's them on the drop-off...

A close-up picture of them...
(Kendall hid her face...too scary!)

Little ballerina at the beach...

Little man playing on the beach...

Building a sand castle...

Getting Kaden in the water...

Kendall absolutely loved playing in the water...

Running from the waves with Daddy...

Kendall's idea of swimming...

And to finish off the trip, we had some ice cream cones...

Bye-bye, Santa Cruz! We'll be seeing you again soon!
I have always heard wonderful things about this place and everything I heard was true. We had a blast! Can't wait to go back!!!
