Happy Birthday, Mommy!
YAY...I'm a year older!!! I still feel like I'm 23, so who cares?!?!?
I have the most amazing visiting teacher in the whole world. She has taken care of me in ways I never knew I needed. She brought our family so serious gourmet meals when I had Karsyn and continuously bring our family yummy treats.
This year, she brought me the most amazing homemade birthday cake! I was right up my alley. We had no problem polishing that off!!!

Karsyn's 1st Hospital Stay
There is nothing more sad that a newborn (just 3 weeks old) with a super bad cold. Eventually we learned that she was tested positive for RSV (an upper respiratory virus). She couldn't breathe out of her nose at all and apparently babies don't know how to switch to mouth breathing until they are older. Her eyes said it all...
After taking care of her at home for a couple days using the suction bulb, humidifier, and the breathing treatment machine (I got with Keaton), it was time I took her to the doctors. Our regular Dr. was out, so I was seen by someone else. They tested her for RSV and when it came up positive, they wanted to take her via ambulance to a hospital in Sacramento. I did not feel as though she was 'that' sick, so I refused the ride and told them I would take her there later. Keep in mind I had the other 3 kids with me...what was I suppose to do...let them take her by herself, or let them take my other 3 home??? I just wasn't a possibility. I signed the waiver refusing the ambulance and I was off to figure out what I was going to do.
She really was okay, but I thought that if something happened in the middle of the night, I would never forgive myself. So...I packed up and off we went to the Children's hospital in Sac.
As I suspected, all the doctors and nurses, told me she was fine and didn't seem to be super sick. They just wanted to monitor her for the night. With RSV at the hospital, there is no meds for it, just a powerful snot sucking machine to help her breathe better.
We were discharged the next day and off we went to run some errands in Sac and had lunch...just me and my baby! Why rush home...when everything there was under control! ;-)
Side stories I want to remember:
(1) After having Karsyn, my Visiting Teachers were insistent about bring us meals (despite not wanting them). One of the ladies brought us dinner and brought 4 of her kids with her. They stayed for over an hour and two of her kiddos had green runny noses....really??? To a house with a newborn??? It was really sweet of her to bring dinner, but bring a nasty cold to my house and getting my baby sick...was not okay! Note to self: when bringing a meal to someone who has just had a baby...don't bring your kids and drop it off and leave! ;-)
(2) The night I was in the hospital, we had our Relief Society Progressive activity that I was in charge of...and I missed it! I was so bummed, but super grateful for an amazing ward and committee that pull together and pull it off! It was a success...from what I heard!

Ward Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
Just 2 weeks after Karsyn was born, I was in charge of our 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt and breakfast. So grateful for an awesome ward where there are so many people willing to help out with everything including holdin my baby. We ate a yummy breakfast complete with casseroles, pancakes, fruits and sausage. The Primary was in charge of the craft making Easter bags to collect their eggs. While the primary kids were decorating their bags, the YM/YW were hiding the eggs (that were donated by the ward members). We even had a special visitor...the Easter Bunny! My friend Tara's mom came dressed as the one and only Bunny! She was super cute!
The activity was an absolute success!!!
Super fun!!!
It was also super fun to have Shane's sister Jessica and her family come to visit for the weekend.
